BANKS’ “Beggin’ for Thread” Hits Top 10 on iTunes

She might be “Beggin’ for Thread,” but BANKS certainly does not need to beg for purchases.

The buzzworthy singer-songwriter’s new release “Beggin’ for Thread” exploded into the top ten of iTunes’ overall single sales chart upon release Tuesday. Rough estimates reveal the track has already garnered at least 11,000 paid downloads.

While it will not be able to sustain its top ten position (it had gone as high as #7 but was already down to #10 at press time), the very fact that it reached that section of the chart is impressive given BANKS’ lack of a mainstream profile.

The track’s favorable launch on iTunes bodes very well for her upcoming debut album “Goddess,” which will aim to make a commercial impact the week of September 8.
