Confirmed: Mark Hunt Gets Crack at Former UFC Champ Dos Santos
The #Hunt4theGold lives on.
Despite original reports that the UFC would reschedule a nixed bout between former UFC Champion Junior dos Santos and highly-ranked contender Alistair Overeem, news came Saturday that the promotion will instead slot Mark Hunt into the mix.
Hunt, who has developed a cult following during his improbable four fight UFC win streak, will fight Junior dos Santos on May 25.
Due to dos Santos’ combination of striking ability and speed, he carriers a clear paper advantage over Hunt and theoretically represents one of the Pride veteran’s most difficult potential opponents. But the opportunity created by Overeem’s injury–a chance to become the number one contender in UFC’s heavyweight division–was too great to pass up, and Hunt will do battle with the former champ this May.
