Ryan Anderson Headed to New Orleans; Magic Receive Ayon in Sign-and-Trade

On the heels of his breakout season and win in the NBA’s Most Improved Player voting, Ryan Anderson is heading out of Orlando.

According to Yahoo!, Anderson is headed to the New Orleans Hornets and will receive a four-year, $36 million deal with the team. The move is part of a sign-and-trade that will result in Gustavo Ayon heading to Orlando.

Various media report that a sign-and-trade became an inevitable consequence of the Magic’s decision against matching the lofty offer Anderson was to receive in restricted free agency. As reporter Josh Robbins notes, “The quality of asset(s) ?#Magic? will receive from ?#Hornets? won’t be as good as Anderson. But Magic decided something was better than nothing.”
