UFC Adds Two Championship Fights, Guillard to UFC 136 PPV in Houston

UFC confirmed this week that two titles will be defended on the UFC 136 show in Houston this October.

Set for October 8, the show will feature Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard and Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo vs. Kenny Florian.

For Edgar and Maynard, UFC 136 represents their long-awaited third encounter. Maynard won their first, a non-title contest in 2008, while the two fought to a draw in their UFC 125 title match.

Aldo, meanwhile, defends his belt for the second time in the UFC against Florian, a perennial lightweight contender who recently dropped down to pursue the 145 pound belt.

Also announced for the show is a contest between Melvin Guillard and Joe Lauzon. The two began building up the fight this week. Demian Maia fights Jorge Santiago on the show, while a Chael Sonnen-Brian Stann matchup is also on the main card.

Undercard matchups include Anthony Pettis vs. Jeremy Stephens, Dave Herman vs. Mike Russow and Josh Grispi vs. Matt Grice.
