Rumor On NBC’s Plans for “Heroes,” “Kindreds” Scores Midseason Order

— Deadline.com reported Thursday that David E. Kelley’s legal series “Kindreds” received a midseason order from NBC. The episode count should be in the neighborhood of 12 or 13 episodes.

Though “Kindreds” was not considered one of the network’s hottest prospects, NBC’s Angela Bromstad recently said Kathy Bates’ lead character tested better than any character in history, so there was obviously an interest in giving the show a shot on the air.

— Deadline also said that NBC is looking at giving a short episode order, likely in the realm of 2 or 4 episodes, for an extended “Heroes” finale. The network is reportedly leaning strongly against a thirteen episode final season pickup, although that cancellation scenario has not been definitively confirmed.
