CBS Picks Up Comedy From “Big Bang Theory” Creator

CBS reportedly added a third Chuck Lorre comedy to its roster Thursday–Deadline.com says that “Mike and Molly” has been picked up to series.

The show, which centers around the overweight titular couple (played by Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy), had reportedly not screened as successfully as some of CBS’ other comedy pilots but remained a near lock due to its pedigree. Creator Chuck Lorre is responsible for the network’s megahits “Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory,” and a series from him would seem to be about as safe as a network could get.
