Did Fedor Dominate Another Heavyweight?; Strikeforce Results Report

November 8, 2009
By Brian Cantor

Fedor Emelianenko, the only heavyweight with a serious presence in the “top pound-for-pound fighter” rankings, had the most high-profile match of his career Saturday against Brett Rogers. While Fedor has fought some more credentialed fighters, never before had he had such a wide American audience–a primetime audience, that is, on national network CBS.

Would Fedor make quick work of yet another threatening heavyweight? Or, would the undefeated Rogers prove that his hands were just too powerful for “The Last Emperor?” Plus, how did fights like Mousasi vs. Sokoudjou and Shields vs. Miller conclude?

Quick results from the Fedor vs. Rogers event (produced by Strikeforce and M-1 Global):

Christian Uflacker b. Jonatas Novaes via unanimous decision (29-26, 30-25, 30-25)
Nate Moore b. Louis Taylor via submission (strikes) at 3:24 of Round Two
Shamar Bailey b. John Kolosci via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-27)
