Hayley Williams Brings Zedd Back Into Top 10, Naya Rivera’s “Sorry”

A formula seems to be emerging: pair Zedd with a powerhouse female vocalist and watch the sales roll in.

Earlier this year, “Clarity,” a collaboration between the Russian-German DJ and English singer-songwriter Foxes, set the music market on fire.

And effective this week, another Zedd collboration is making its way up the charts. “Stay the Night,” which features Paramore’s Hayley Williams, surged into the iTunes Top 10 within twenty four hours of its release Tuesday.

As of press time, the song was the eighth most popular single on iTunes.

Williams, who has spent the past several weeks in the top twenty five courtesy Paramore’s single “Still Into You,” is no stranger to successful collaborations. In 2010, she joined rapper BoB for “Airplanes,” which sold four million copies and reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100.

Because Zedd and Williams have passionate fanbases, the initial wave of interest was inevitable. The next challenge for the song is to demonstrate the longevity on the charts.

While the song is available on iTunes, full audio has not yet been published to VEVO; only a preview is presently accessible:

Earlier this summer, “Glee” star Naya Rivera put an end to years of anticipation with the radio debut of her new single “Sorry.”

The song, a collaboration with her boyfriend Big Sean, garnered mixed reviews from her passionate cult of “Nayaholics.” While many appreciated the accessibility and confidence of the single, others were disappointed by the singer’s fairly-generic foray into the urban-pop domain.

Given the vocal strengths and tendencies she demonstrates on “Glee,” many were anticipating a jazzier, more soulful debut record.

The song, which ships to iTunes on September 17, is available now:
