“Rick and Morty” returned in a big way this weekend, ranking as Sunday’s #1 cable program in the key adults 18-49 demographic.

According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, the fourth season premiere drew a 1.29 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 2.33 million overall viewers.

While AMC’s veteran juggernaut “The Walking Dead” fared better in overall viewership (3.21), “Rick and Morty” seized the adults 18-49 throne (“TWD” drew a 1.05).

Not simply a force among cable programming, “Rick and Morty” outperformed almost every broadcast network show Sunday night. Only football programming and a football-boosted “The Simpsons” fared better in the demo.
