Update: While not as potent as last week’s premiere, Tuesday’s “Roseanne” will rank as this week’s #1 scripted program — by a considerable margin.
According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Tuesday’s episode drew a 3.9 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 15.16 million overall viewers.
Those numbers trail the 5.2 rating and 18.44 million viewer mark posted by last week’s premiere but easily ranked as the best Tuesday night. They, as noted, should also rank as the week‘s best for a scripted program.
“Roseanne” led into “The Middle,” which drew a 2.2 adults 18-49 rating and 8.32 million viewers.
Leading out of “The Middle” rather than “Roseanne,” 9PM comedy “black-ish” was down from last week (1.5/5.42 million vs. 2.6/8.58 million). Its numbers are nonetheless solid by any reasonable standard.
ABC’s lineup also included “Splitting Up Together” (1.4/4.84 million this week vs. 2.1/6.96 million last week) and “For The People” (0.8/2.82 million this week vs. 0.9/3.50 million last week).
====
No, this Tuesday’s “Roseanne” did not retain the entirety of last week’s mammoth premiere audience.
The ABC comedy still convincingly ranked as the night’s biggest show.
According to metered market data posted by Programming Insider, Tuesday’s “Roseanne” drew a 9.8 overnight household audience.
Last week’s premiere drew an 11.4.
The 9.8 overnight rating still comfortably reflects the night’s biggest household audience. “NCIS,” the #2 show in households, drew a 7.8.
Preliminary adults 18-49 and total viewership numbers should arrive by 12PM ET Wednesday. “Roseanne” is set to convincingly win in those columns as well.
