Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” holds off Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” to earn a tenth week atop the Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.
In doing so, it ties the Mediabase-era record (post-summer 2006) also held by The Chainsmokers’ “Closer (featuring Halsey)” and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines (featuring TI & Pharrell).”
“Shape Of You” and “Blurred Lines,” it should be noted, ruled pop radio for ten consecutive weeks. The “Closer” reign was broken up into stints of 7 weeks and 3 weeks.
“Shape Of You” received 19,047 spins during the April 16-22 tracking week. The tally trails last week’s mark by 287 but keeps Sheeran’s tune narrowly ahead of “That’s What I Like.”
The Bruno Mars song, which holds at #2, received 18,924 tracking week spins (+341).
Played 15,030 times during the tracking week (-138), The Chainsmokers’ “Paris” holds at #3. Clean Bandit’s “Rockabye (featuring Sean Paul & Anne-Marie),” which received 13,367 spins (+558), again follows at #4.
Up one spot, Kygo x Selena Gomez’ “It Ain’t Me” reaches a new peak of #5. It garnered 13,287 tracking week spins (+1,454).
