As we approach the midway point of the October 9-15 tracking week, airplay for Lady Gaga’s “Perfect Illusion” is down at the pop and hot adult contemporary formats.
According to Mediabase, “Perfect Illusion” received 1,677 spins during the first three days of the tracking period. The count, which slots Gaga’s tune at #23 on the building airplay chart, trails the same-time-last-week tally by 8.4%.
“Perfect Illusion” already suffered a modest pop airplay decline during the October 2-8 tracking period. A second consecutive weekly decline would be a very pessimistic sign for the lead “Joanne” single.
The song’s Hot AC airplay is also down versus last week. “Perfect Illusion” received 983 spins during the first three days of the current tracking week, trailing the same-time-last-week mark by 3.2%.
“Perfect Illusion” is presently #17 on the building Hot AC chart.
In addition to coming from a high-profile artist, “Perfect Illusion” is fairly new to both formats. It is only in its sixth week on the pop and hot adult contemporary airplay charts. A decline at this stage of the game is undoubtedly disappointing.
It does, however, correspond with a tepid reaction on the sales and streaming fronts. “Perfect Illusion” is presently only #65 on the US iTunes sales chart. It is not even in the Top 200 on US Spotify.
