Undeterred by the second week decline in live+same-day ratings and pleased with the show’s overall interest level, Disney Channel has ordered a second season of “Elena Of Avalor.”
Announced Thursday, the renewal comes a day before the show’s fourth episode (third broadcast week).
“It’s just a few weeks into the launch of Elena of Avalor, and we are already seeing what an impact and connection she is making with kids and families,” said Disney’s Nancy Kanter. “We’re eager to make sure that we will have many new stories of bravery, adventure and leadership for our audience to enjoy and are delighted to begin production on our second season and continue to find ways for her story to be heard both on and off screen.”
“‘Elena of Avalor’ is an animated series that follows the story of Elena, a brave and adventurous teenager who saves her kingdom from an evil sorceress and must now learn to rule as crown princess until she is old enough to be queen,” says Disney of its animated series, which is set in the “Sofia The First” universe.
Each episode features at least one original song, highlighting styles like Mariachi, Latin Pop, Salsa, Banda and Chilean Hip Hop.
Aimee Carrero voices the title character.
