gnash and Olivia O’Brien performed their “i hate u, i love u” on the July 11 edition of “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”

That same day, the single received its first RIAA certification.

“i hate u, i love u,” which credits gnash as the lead artist and O’brien as the featured artist, was certified gold under the RIAA’s digital singles program. The award confirms a US unit total of at least 500,000; a unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.

Not simply the first RIAA certification for the song, the gold honor is the first achieved by either artist.

“i hate u, i love u” has thus far gone as high as #54 on the Billboard Hot 100.
