Meghan Trainor’s “NO” Received 1,342 Day One Pop Spins; Will Easily Join Pop Radio’s Top 40

Meghan Trainor’s “NO” did not premiere until 10AM ET Friday, but the combination of “on the hour” airplay promotions and ample buzz still resulted in a mammoth first day spin count.

The lead “Thank You” single generated 1,342 Mediabase-monitored pop spins on Friday, March 4. The count positions “NO” at #35 on Mediabase’s building chart, which accounts for the first six days of the February 28-March 5 tracking week.

While “NO” will not receive as many pop plays on Saturday, it will surely remain in the Top 40 as the chart goes final. A Top 30 position is not completely out of reach.

As a point of comparison, Fifth Harmony’s “Work From Home (featuring Ty Dolla $ign),” which had a similar launch last Friday (albeit one that started at 7AM ET), received 1,309 first day spins. It initially took the same #35 on the building chart and ultimately reached #32 on the official Mediabase chart for the February 21-27 tracking week.
