Ellie Goulding’s “Something In The Way You Move” Set To Reach Pop Radio’s Top 50

Despite a clear indication that “Something In The Way You Move” was slated as Ellie Goulding’s new radio single, her “Army” surprisingly received a substantial dose of new airplay last week. Outside of the Top 200 during the December 20-26 tracking week, “Army” was the Mediabase pop panel’s #57 song during the December 27-January 2 week.

Now in possession of official confirmation that “Move” is the follow-up to Goulding’s “On My Mind,” pop programmers are wasting no time switching gears.

“Something In The Way You Move” received 284 spins spins during the first four days of the January 3-9 tracking week. Up 1,320% from the same time last week, the count positions “Move” at #48 on Mediabase’s building pop airplay chart.

While the song does not presently maintain a huge advantage over the next few songs on the chart, its massive growth rate suggests it will have no trouble retaining — and potentially improving — its Top 50 position as the tracking week draws to a close.

It will thus earn an official Top 50 ranking when this Sunday’s chart data is published.
