Ratings Update: “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” Repeat as Thursday’s Top Dramas

Final Ratings: Among adults 18-49, ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” tied as Thursday night’s highest-rated dramas.

“Grey’s Anatomy” was the most-watched Thursday night drama; “Scandal” was second in that regard.

Per final Nielsen data, “Grey’s” drew a 2.2 adults 18-49 rating with 8.018 million total viewers. Down from the 2.3 and 8.504 million posted by last week’s episode, the performance was still the best for a Thursday night drama.

“Scandal” followed with the same 2.2 rating but a viewership mark of 7.703 million. Last week’s “Scandal” drew a 2.2 with 8.026 million.

ABC followed “Scandal” with “How To Get Away With Murder.” This week’s episode drew a 1.9 with 6.710 million; last week’s managed the same 1.9 but garnered a lesser viewership total of 6.487 million.

“HTGAWM” was the night’s #3 drama in adults 18-49 and #4 drama in viewership (behind “Grey’s”,” “Scandal,” and “The Blacklist”).

While ABC’s “TGIT” lineup ruled over the drama world, CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” was the night’s top program — scripted or otherwise — overall. It posted a 3.7 with 14.915 million total viewers.

Fast National Ratings: ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” were Thursday night’s top drama programs.

The two shows tied in adults 18-49. “Grey’s,” meanwhile, carried a slight lead in total viewership.

Per Nielsen fast national data, “Grey’s” posted a 2.2 adults 18-49 rating and reached 7.988 million total viewers. Last week’s episode, which was the outright #1 drama in both columns, drew a 2.3 with 8.504 million.

“Scandal” followed with a 2.2 and 7.697 million total viewers. Last week’s episode posted the same 2.2 but a larger 8.026 million viewership total.

“Grey’s” and “Scandal” led into “How To Get Away With Murder,” which ranked as the night’s #3 drama. Thursday’s “HTGAWM” drew a 1.9 rating with 6.687 million viewers; last week’s posted the same 1.9 but reached 6.487 million.

— While the “TGIT” lineup led the drama race, CBS’ “Big Bang Theory” was the night’s overall top scripted program. New York City and Buffalo football pre-emptions should result in an atypically great adjustment in the final ratings report, but preliminary data gives it a 3.8 with 15.286 million.

While both were down slightly from last week’s marks, ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” again ranked as Thursday’s top two dramas in the overnight household ratings.

Fellow “TGIT” series “How To Get Away With Murder,” which was actually up slightly in the overnights, grabbed the #3 position.

Per Nielsen Metered Market Data, “Grey’s” led the night – among dramas – with a 6.25 overnight household rating. Last week’s episode drew a 6.4.

“Scandal” followed with a 6.05 overnight household rating, which trailed the 6.35 posted by the previous episode.

“HTGAWM” then closed then night with a 5.25 overnight household mark; last week’s posted a 5.05.

The night’s leaders among dramas, the three ABC shows distantly trailed CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” (10.0) in the race among all scripted Thursday night shows.

Adults 18-49 and total viewership data for the aforementioned programs is due by 11:15AM ET.
