For Chris Janson, “Buy Me a Boat” has been the epitome of a breakthrough.
When the song first gained exposure this spring, Janson was an independent artist.
The buzz quickly landed him a deal with Warner Music Nashville. The song also received coveted support from the iHeartRadio “On the Verge” program.
This week, it reaches #1 on the Mediabase country radio singles chart. It seizes the throne from Thomas Rhett’s “Crash and Burn,” which slips to #5 this week.
In addition to claiming the greatest number of Mediabase chart points, “Buy Me a Boat” also ranked as the Mediabase country panel’s most-played song during the September 13-19 tracking week. It was the second-most-heard.
“Buy Me a Boat” received ~8,490 plays (+617) and ~54.684 million audience impressions (+2.804). No country song received as many weekly spins; only Kenny Chesney’s “Save It For a Rainy Day,” which is #3 on the points-driven Mediabase chart, reached a greater weekly audience (55.030 million).
