Report: Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” Drove 157K Sales in 2 Days

Bieber [WDYM | Def Jam]

Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?,” which is on track to post one of the year’s Top 2 opening week sales totals, performed particularly well during its first two days of release.

Def Jam confirms that the single shifted a healthy 157,000 paid US downloads within that two-day window.

The strong start — and ongoing momentum — will allow “What Do You Mean” to easily claim #1 on this week’s Digital Songs chart.

Attention now turns to how its full opening week tally will compare to that of One Direction’s “Drag Me Down.” That single, which was released on July 31, sold 350,000 copies during its first week of release.

The mark ranks as 2015’s strongest opening week sales total.

“What Do You Mean?” is the lead single from Bieber’s new studio album. The project arrives on November 13.
