Ratings aficionados know NBC did not wave goodbye to a hit show Tuesday night.
The network did, however, wave goodbye to a very good one.
After seven seasons of consistently struggling to deliver ratings but just as consistently succeeding to produce laughter, “Parks and Recreation” came to a close Tuesday.
The hourlong episode, which upheld the show’s commitment to simultaneously tugging on heart strings and funny bones, represented the last time television viewers will engage with the people of Pawnee.
It did not, however, represent the last time viewers will see the core cast members together.
Along with creator Michael Schur, the key cast members appear on the Tuesday edition of “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
The salute to one of modern television’s best comedies is the central focus of Tuesday’s “Late Night” broadcast, and first look photos from the taping follow. The episode airs at 12:35AM ET.
