Single Sales: “Uptown Funk” Leads with 382K, “Blank Space” Sells 284K

Not merely #1 on the all-encompassing Billboard Hot 100, Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars)” also leads the publication’s Digital Songs chart.

“Funk” rises to #1 thanks to the 382,000 paid downloads it commanded last week. That impressive count trails last week’s mark, which benefited from a Christmas week sales boost, by a mere twelve percent.

After claiming #1 last week courtesy its 503,000 Christmas week sales, Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” falls to #2 on this week’s Digital Songs listing. It garnered 284,000 paid downloads during the first tracking week of 2015.

“Blank Space” also falls to #2 on the Hot 100. It spent seven consecutive weeks on top.

Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” retains its #3 Digital Songs ranking with weekly sales of 265,000 (-34%), while Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” rises to #4. Also #4 on this week’s Hot 100, the Sheeran ballad moved 219,000 weekly copies (-6%).

As it does on the Hot 100, Meghan Trainor’s “Lips are Movin” closes the top five on the Digital Songs chart. It moved 194,000 copies during the first tracking week of 2015, which represents a 43% decline from its Christmas week total.
