Update: Carrie Underwood performed “Something in the Water” on Monday’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” A video of the performance–and photos from the taping–follow:
There is nothing exaggerated or disingenuous about Carrie Underwood’s first greatest hits collection. The title promises great hits from her first decade of fame, and it absolutely delivers.
As one of music’s, let alone country music’s, most bankable stars since debuting on “American Idol,” Underwood has amassed a discography of hits that can withstand all skepticism and scrutiny–and can appeal to all tastes. She has released pop-leaning songs. She has released ones with a truer country core. She has released fun uptempos. She has released emotional ballads.
When condensed onto “Greatest Hits: Decade #1,” that listing comes across as one of the most impressive in music.
In celebration–and in promotion–of the album’s release, Underwood visits Tuesday’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to discuss the record and perform. Comedian Chris Rock also appears on the episode.
