Hot 100: Tove Lo’s “Habits,” Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” Go Top 25

You can call it staying high all the time. You can call it fitting in with the “Cool Kids.”

Or, if you’re not a fan of wordplay, you can simply say Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High)” and Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” leap into the Top 25 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100.

“Habits,” the current recipient of the iHeartRadio “On the Verge” boost at pop radio and a longtime magnet for streaming users, climbs seven places to a new peak of #23 this week.

With its airplay still growing and its sales and streaming performance still strong, “Habits” should move even higher in the coming weeks.

After reaching the Top 40 last week (at #31), Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” elevates an additional six places to #25.

The song, which gained its most notable momentum as an “On the Verge” song at Hot AC radio earlier this summer, continues to explode on that radio format.

Currently the eleventh-most-played song at Hot AC, “Cool Kids” is also making noise at pop radio, where its airplay ranks at #18. Its streaming level does not rival that of its “Habits,” but its sales pace remains very impressive.

The Echosmith song, which nearly entered the Top 10 on iTunes earlier this month, remains in healthy position at #16 on the store’s all-genre chart.
