Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” got off to a monstrous start on Mediabase’s hot adult contemporary, pop and adult contemporary radio charts.
It got off to an even stronger start on two of Billboard’s audience-based airplay charts.
According to Billboard, Swift debuts at #9 on Adult Pop Songs and at #12 on Billboard’s pop song listing.
It also flies into the #21 and #58 spots on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary and Country Airplay charts, respectively.
The #9 mark on Adult Pop represents the highest debut ever on the chart — and the first to come within the top ten. Alanis Morissette’s “Thank U,” which held the previous high mark, launched at #13 in 1998.
“Shake it Off” meanwhile ties Mariah Carey’s “Dreamlover” for the best debut in the history of the Pop Songs chart.
When it comes to play count, “Shake it Off” is in a class of its own. Its 2,813 Adult Pop spins and 8,326 Pop spins represent the respective formats’ largest opening week counts on record.
