Jake Owen’s “Beachin'” picked the perfect day to complete its climb to the top of Mediabase’s rolling country radio airplay chart.
The song’s successful ascent to #1 was made official in Mediabase’s July 4 update, which reports on airplay for the seven days ending July 3. Over that period, Owen’s “Beachin'” earned enough spins to dethrone Blake Shelton’s “My Eyes (featuring Gwen Sebastian)” and seize the top spot at country radio.
Up 372 from the prior week, “Beachin'” earned 7,618 country format spins over the measured period. It attracted 58.07 million audience impressions.
While Shelton’s latest #1 reached a larger audience (58.54 million), its spin count was only 7,560. That provided “Beachin'” with enough of a lead in chart points to claim #1 on the day Americans customarily identify as the high point of the summer.
“My Eyes” settles for #2 on the July 4 edition of the chart.
Responsible for 96 spins this week, Louisville’s Q103.1 made the largest individual contribution to the “Beachin'” spin count.
The source of 1.52 million impressions, Chicago’s US99.5, however, made the largest individual contribution to the song’s audience total.
Other top ten songs at country radio: Chris Young’s “Who I Am With You” (#3), Tyler Farr’s “Whiskey in My Water” (#4), Joe Nichols’ “Yeah” (#5), Billy Currington’s “We Are Tonight” (#6), The Band Perry’s “Chainsaw” (#7), Lee Brice’s “I Don’t Dance” (#8), Brad Paisley’s “River Bank” (#9) and Justin Moore’s “Lettin’ the Night Roll” (#10).
