“American Idol” Journey Ends for CJ Harris, Top 5 Revealed

Only five contestants remain in FOX’s thirteenth “American Idol” competition. Only one is a wildcard.

Thursday’s “Idol” results show brought an end to the journey of Jasper, Alabama’s CJ Harris, whose covers of “American Woman” and “Whatever it Is” proved unable to win enough American hearts.

Viewed as one of the competition’s more likable hopefuls, Harris had nonetheless been routinely criticized for intonation issues. The adverse impact of those issues finally became too great to be compensated with likability and emotion. Harris was sent packing.

The contestant was joined in the bottom two by fellow Alabama resident Jessica Meuse.

Harris’ elimination reduces the pool to five contestants: Meuse, Alex Preston, Caleb Johnson, Sam Woolf and Jena Irene. Irene is the only remaining contestant who reached the finals as a wildcard pick.

The five remaining contestants will perform songs selected by America on next week’s episode.
