“Duck Dynasty” Season Premiere Delivers Record Ratings

The notion of “good by cable standards” is fast becoming obsolete.

In addition to shattering a key cable record, Wednesday’s “Duck Dynasty” season premiere delivered numbers that would also be the envy of virtually every broadcast series.

According to A&E, the season four premiere became the “number one nonfiction series telecast in cable history” with a whopping 11.8 million viewers.

The juggernaut also skewed well with young adult audiences, attracting 6.3 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic (which roughly amounts to a 5.0 rating).

“Thanks to its authentic and engaging characters ‘Duck Dynasty’ has become more than just a reality show, it is a cultural phenomenon,” said David McKillop, General Manager and Executive Vice President of A&E. “We would like to thank the Robertsons for their incredible partnership. We are all Happy, Happy, Happy.”

The most socially-active telecast Wednesday, “Duck Dynasty”‘s season premiere posted gains of 37% in total viewers, 29% in adults 25-54 and 26% in adults 18-49 over its season three premiere.
