Filmed under the leadership of “Super Size Me” director Morgan Spurlock, One Direction’s experience on the road becomes the latest concert-oriented theatrical attraction.
Due in theatres on August 30, “This is Us” “tells the remarkable story of Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis’ meteoric rise to fame, from their humble hometown beginnings and competing on the X-Factor, to conquering the world and performing at London’s famed O2 Arena.”
In capitalizing on the red hot boy band, which just recently saw its “Best Song Ever” hit number two on the Billboard Hot 100, “This is Us” has ambitions of more closely mirroring the box office performance of Justin Bieber’s “Never Say Never” ($29.5 million opening weekend) than the Jonas Brothers’ “3D Concert Experience” ($12.5 million opening weekend).
Simon Cowell, who mentored One Direction during series 7 of “The X Factor,” joins Spurlock, Adam Milano and Ben Winston with producer billing.
Hyping the upcoming release, Sony Pictures issued a collection of trailers, posters and photos for the upcoming “This is Us.”
