Report: CBS to Give New Anna Faris Comedy “Mom” an Early Pickup

Responsible for “Two and a Half Men,” “Mike & Molly” and “The Big Bang Theory,” Chuck Lorre is CBS’ reigning golden boy of comedy, and he is about to land a fourth show on the network.

CBS will, predictably, be picking up his new comedy “Mom,” which stars Anna Farris and Allison Janney. According to Deadline, that pickup is expected for this week–ahead of the network’s official upfront presentation.

Lorre’s involvement put the series in instant contention, and strong reactions to the script, table read and pilot solidified the network’s interest.

Though some insiders argue that CBS should retool its Monday night lineup to combat declining ratings, present indications suggest the new series will land in the predictable 8:30 timeslot, sandwiched between concluding “How I Met Your Mother” and 9PM occupant “2 Broke Girls.”
