Showtime Confirms “Dexter” Finale in Non-News of the Day

Several weeks back, news “broke” that CBS was renewing “How I Met Your Mother” for a ninth season. You know, after reports dating back to late last fall had already effectively confirmed such.

Thursday, Showtime officially confirmed what most had been led to believe for more than a year: “Dexter” will end with its current eighth season.

“I’ve been an advocate for having a dialog with the writers and getting a sense of how to best bring this story home — not wrap everything up with a tidy bow, but find some sort of conclusion,” said “Dexter” star Michael C. Hall in an interview with EW. “There has to be an end game. Once Deb found out, it felt like we were moving toward a place where the world as Dexter knew it would end.”

“Dexter” begins its final season on June 30.
