WWE has devoted months of anticipation and build to the new Fandango character, and he debuts in the WWE WrestleMania 29 ring against Chris Jericho.
Fandango has largely gotten the upperhand in their television feud, but will that streak of offense continue at the Super Bowl of Wrestling?

Chris Jericho vs. Fandango
A group of female dancers perform at the top of the ramp to precede Fandango’s ring entrance. He and his usual dancer then make their way down the ramp. Jericho follows to a decent reaction from the audience, but it is clear that the large, outdoor stadium is not helping crowd reactions resonate with television viewers. Jericho’s intro includes fireworks.
As the bell sounds, Fandango opens things up with a dance routine. Jericho waits for a second, and then proceeds to bring the offense to the newcomer. Whipped off the ropes, Fandango hopes to slow Jericho’s momentum with a slip to the outside. But Jericho chases him, and they end up back in the ring. Y2J maintains his offensive advantage.
He works Fandango into the corner.
Fandango occasionally slips from Jericho’s grasp, but because he keeps transitioning into dance moves, he gives Jericho a chance to get back in charge. Jericho hits Fandango with the codebreaker, sending the new heel to the outside.
Jericho works Fandango with chops outside, he then rolls the dancer into the ring and continues with more slaps and kicks.
Fandango finally gets in control, but Jericho fights back into the mix with some shoulder blocks. Fandango attempts to toss Jericho to the outside, but Jericho catches himself on the ramp and connects with a move from the top rope. He then works Fandango over with some kicks in the middle of the ring. Two-count.
Fandango works back into the mix, and he whips Jericho into the corner post. He drops Jericho face-first onto the map, and then sets up for his flying legdrop on the top rope.
Even though he takes a while to setup the move, he connects. Jericho, however, kicks out at two.
They both work to their feet, and Jericho attempts to roll Fandango up. Two-count.
Jericho runs off the ropes, and Fandango attempts a dropkick. Jericho catches and attempts a Walls of Jericho, but Fandango works himself out of it.
Fandango returns to the top rope for another legdrop attempt, but this time, Jericho pulls on the top rope and Fandango cannot execute. Jericho works his way up for a superplex attempt, but Fandango pushes off. Fandango goes for the legdrop and misses.
Jericho then attempts a lionsault, and in a strange spot, Fandango puts the legs up in defense, but Jericho no-sells it and goes for the Walls of Jericho. As he attempts his move, Fandango works for a roll-up and gets the three-count. The announcers suggest that Jericho tweaked his knee in the exchange, which enabled Fandango to take control.
Winner: Fandango
