The CW Cancels “Hellcats,” Renews “Nikita” and “One Tree Hill,” Picks Up “Ringer”

The CW made some big scheduling moves Tuesday, answering questions about its remaining bubble series while officially ordering three pilots to series.

“Hellcats,” predictably, will not be returning for season two. Never a true ratings success, “Hellcats” opened solidly enough, in comparison to the network’s standards, that a renewal was at least an initial possibility. But its audience faded, and the show’s recent ratings had been so weak that cancellation was the only real option.

“Nikita” and “One Tree Hill,” also predictably, will be back next season.

On the pilot pickup side, The CW ordered frontrunners “Hart of Dixie” and “Secret Circle” to series. The network also issued an order to Sarah Michelle Gellar-starrer “Ringer,” which had initially been setup at sister network CBS.

  1. Hellcats is a great show with wonderful storylines. Changing nights and skipping weeks really hurt as it was hard to know when to watch. This show deserves another season. My daughter and I loved watching it. More episodes with Debbie Allen directing would be fantastic. Please renew it for season twl and give it a chance to find its audience!
