Despite deteriorating reviews and no evidence of breakout potential as a ratings hit, “Hung” has garnered a third season pickup from HBO.
The comedy, which follows on a down-on-his-luck, middle aged man who parlays his impressive endowment into a side gig as a male prostitute, has consistently posted solid numbers for a premium cable series, although its ratings have undoubtedly been inflated by “sandwich scheduling” between phenomenon “True Blood” and reliable veteran “Entourage.”
Sunday’s airing averaged 2.525 million viewers, a decline from the 5.444 million figure for lead-in “True Blood.” “Entourage” followed” with 2.861 million viewers.
The third season order calls for ten episodes.
