Edie Falco Wins Lead Actress Emmy for “Nurse Jackie”

“Nurse Jackie” made a surprising dent in the nominations for the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, and it already has a big victory to its credit. Edie Falco won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy series.

Although all nominees have fans and critics and television viewers, the feeling among insiders was that the award was going to come down to two Showtime performers–“Jackie”‘s Edie Falco and “The United States of Tara”‘s Toni Collette. It did, and it was Falco who garnered the victory.

Other nominees included “Glee”‘s Lea Michele, “30 Rock”‘s Tina Fey, “Parks and Recreation”‘s Amy Poehler and “The New Adventures of Old Christine”‘s Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
