Following MTV Awards, Tom Cruise Confirmed For “Les Grossman” Film

Tom Cruise’s cameo as Les Grossman in 2008’s “Tropic Thunder” became a film sensation, earning the actor tremendous respect from even those fans who had come down on his off-screen antics.

Cruise earned more acclaim for his performance, in character, at the MTV Movie Awards Sunday night. Cruise’s Grossman character was considered the highlight of a show that featured a solid hosting showing from Aziz Ansari and a touching Sandra Bullock moment, further indicating just how special the character had become.

Paramount and MTV Films thus announced Wednesday that they are moving forward with a Les Grossman film. Cruise, Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld will produce.

“Les Grossman’s life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds. He has assured me he plans to quote, ‘F**king kill the sh*t out of this movie and make Citizen f**king Kane look like a piece of crap home movie by the time we are done.’ I am honored to be working with him,” said Stiller in a tongue-in-cheek, character-driven press release.

On the Grossman character, the release noted, “Grossman, best known as a mega producer, has most recently mentored talents such as Rob Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. In 2008, Grossman was introduced to the masses by Stiller in the comedy “Tropic Thunder” where the famed producer had a cameo playing himself.”
