Jack Johnson Dominates Taio Cruz, Clay Aiken in Album Sales Race

Though looking to be down from his last studio release, Jack Johnson’s “To the Sea” will have no trouble dominating the album sales charts for this week.

Byron Bay Bluesfest 2010 - Day 3

Based on one day sales extensions from Hits Daily Double, the latest from Johnson should be good for around 240-260,000 copies solid this week. No holdover or fellow new release will contend with that figure.

Elsewhere, Taio Cruz’s “Rokstarr” serves as the latest album to prove that mainstream radio success does not correlate with album sales performance. Despite featuring his smash hit “Break Your Heart,” the album might not even cross the 30,000 barrier in its first week, with 22-27,000 standing as the current forecast.

Clay Aiken’s new “Tried & True” is tracking for just shy of 20,000.

  1. Clay Aiken is doing pretty well for himself seeing that the album was only release 2 days ago… great album by the way. Everyone should just go out and get it.

  2. In this economy and album market, with no pre-promotion, and the genre of the CD, I’m surprised Aiken sold more than a handful this time out. He’s been out of the public eye raising his child for a couple of years. Frankly, no one I know even knew he had another album out until I told them this week. But it’s so damn good, really stellar vocals, instrumentation and production values, that I predict it will do well over time. Word of mouth will help as well as touring and his primetime concert special this summer.

  3. I just bought Clay’s album and I love it. I saw him on The View and The Early Show. Such a great singer. I believe he will do very well with this album. Just fantastic!
