On paper, “Strikeforce: Nashville” was the promotion’s best-televised card to date. With three title matches, including a main-event between Dan Henderson and Jake Shields, Strikeforce advocates contended that Saturday’s card put the typical UFC “Fight Night” special to shame.
But while none of the matches proved especially memorable, and the show’s television rating was atrocious, an event on the card did get people talking.
Following Shields’ decision victory over Dan Henderson, Jason “Mayhem” entered the cage to confront Shields about a potential rematch. Shields admits that he shoved Miller, but from that point forward, it went way beyond either man’s control. A largely one-sided brawl broke out, with Shields’ teammates–including top-ranked fighters like Nick Diaz and Gilbert Melendez, as well as Nate Diaz–going after Miller until officials could break the fight up.
