In a series of Q&A updates on his official website, WWE’s Jim Ross dismisses the concept of a general manager as dated, notably ripping some of WWE’s celebrity RAW hosts.
“I personally think that, by and large, the GM biz/role has started to run its course,” wrote Ross. “I’m talking full time or Guest General Managers, especially guest GM’s who have not the first clue about the product and engage others in lame skits featuring poor acting.”
With Ross apparently out of the commentary mix, he responded to a number of questions regarding interest in taking on a general manager role for one of the brands. Based on his comments, he does not seem interested in that role. Other quotables:
“The GM role is not so topical in my view and would be beneath Shawn [Michaels].”
“At this point regarding GM’s, I really have lost interest.”
“I am not interested in traveling to Raw each week and becoming a character. The GM role feels tired to me and I don’t want to attempt to resurrect a broken down horse.”
