Confirmation on Jeff Hardy’s TNA status remains tricky, as reports continue to conflict as to the nature of his agreement to appear.
Nonetheless, if there is a deal, and many of his friends still maintain that he never signed a formal contract, it obviously was not for a regular, long-term stint with the company based on the lack of significant follow-up to his January 4 return.
While some friends have pushed for him to return to WWE, it is not clear that he has any interest in doing so. One interesting report claims that Hardy was “furious” with the angle in which CM Punk poked fun at his arrest. The feeling among many was that because it made no obvious business sense and did nothing to further a long-term angle, it was just a mean-spirited shot.
Some speculate that one of the drivers behind Hardy’s surprise TNA iMPACT! appearance was his frustration with how WWE handled the arrest story.

Didn’t build for a long-term angle? Punk, “Mr. Straight Edge”, continued to be able to sing praises of being Straight Edge while Hardy’s poor lack of judgment led to an arrest. Hardy could easily return and sing his praises and talk about redeeming himself without becoming a Straight Edge zombie (like Gallows, the bald girl, etc.). It seems like nobody knows how to book a good angle and show except the fans stuck watching the crap that is booked by “professionals.”

I remember, with a lot of reports as source, even Punk wasn’t willing to cut the promo citing Jeff’s troubles. However, he was told by the management that he was in no position as of yet to refuse promos and that he had no choice but to do it.
Totally agree with you Aaron. That would be a brilliant angle for Jeff Hardy to make his return to WWE. The feud was brilliant while it lasted last year, but somehow it was never complete! This angle should work wonders for the E.
There are conflicting reports coming in on Jeff Hardy’s status with TNA. Sources in the company are saying that Hardy has signed a contract with the company while friends of Hardy have said that he told them he has absolutely not signed a deal. The fact Hardy hasn’t appeared with TNA since January 4th would indicate that he hasn’t signed or committed to any dates.
In related Jeff Hardy news, he was said to be upset at the recent segments on WWE’s SmackDown! where CM Punk used his name in promos to get himself over when Hardy is not even in WWE anymore to ‘defend’ himself. One person close to Hardy said that one of the reasons he decided to appear on January 4th was just to prove a point to WWE. Word is that friends of Hardy are telling him that at the end of the day, Jeff in TNA is a bad move because he comes across as a much bigger star with WWE.
Despite Hardy’s legal problems and his appearances for TNA, WWE still wants him back down the road simply because he’s a huge draw for them.
I’m also told that many people in TNA believe he’s going to do some ‘hard time’ and TNA is holding off on using him right now until his legal issues are resolved.
