The strong callout scores Ruth B’s “Lost Boy” is receiving at pop radio have nothing on the glowing reception it is earning from the hot adult contemporary audience.
Per the latest Mediabase/Critical Mass Media listener callout report, “Lost Boy” has the Hot AC format’s best scores (among the 15 “current” songs that appear in this week’s report) for positive reaction, negative reaction, net positive reaction, and “favorite” rating.
The Peter Pan-inspired song received a positive score from a whopping 75.8% of surveyed listeners. Only 9.1% have a negative reaction to the song, resulting in an impressive 66.7% net positive score.
The figure is comfortably the format’s best; Kelly Clarkson’s “Piece By Piece” which is #2 for net positive, follows at 55.3%.
“Lost Boy” also leads the Hot AC format with a “favorite” rating from 30.3% of the surveyed panel.
Since returning from winter break, the weekly callout reports have been drawing from greatly reduced sample sizes. That may impact the accuracy of the data.
But even if the “Lost Boy” data does not hold at these exact levels, listeners clearly seem to be reacting favorably to the song. Its strong scores have held up for three straight weeks at pop, and it continues to fare well on the iTunes sales chart.
