Not content to simply be the biggest hit of the Australian rapper’s career, Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” is working to become a bona fide pop blockbuster.
With each passing moment, it seems the track, which features Charli XCX, ventures into more impressive territory on both the iTunes Overall Single Sales chart and Mediabase’s Top 40 Radio Airplay chart.
Benefiting from its ever-increasing radio exposure and from buzz surrounding Azalea’s newly released album “The New Classic,” “Fancy” surged into the Top 10 of iTunes’ single sales chart Tuesday. As of press time, it was the e-tailer’s seventh best seller.
“Fancy” also reached a new peak of 24 on Mediabase’s rolling Top 40 airplay chart. Added by 21 new Top 40 stations this week, “Fancy” will quickly soar even higher.
The song’s combination of sales, airplay, streams and on-demand plays helped it reach #37 on last week’s definitive Billboard Hot 100 chart. A career best for Azalea, that number will ultimately pale comparison to the position the song reaches in the coming weeks.
