It is the end of “The World.”
Sources confirmed Tuesday that NBC has officially halted production on low-rated new comedy “Sean Saves the World.”
A ratings disaster from its first episode, “Sean” had no chance of a second season. That it survived more than a few weeks, in fact, speaks to the poor state of NBC’s comedy lineup.
Save for the premiere and one that aired after a special “The Voice,” no episode of the Sean Hayes vehicle attracted more than 4 million viewers. The most recent telecast drew just 2.58 million with an abysmal 0.7 adults 18-49 rating.
The production stoppage comes as “Sean” was completing a five episode “back” order it received midway through the season (to supplement the thirteen that have already aired). Sources are in conflict over whether one or two additional episodes have been finished, but anything that has been completed will possibly air after the conclusion of NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage.
