For those “Glee” fans upset by the show’s continued focus on new characters at the expense of the old ones, the concept of the series’ 100th episode was particularly troubling.
Confirmed last week, that milestone episode will feature current members of the New Directions redoing the most popular songs from the show’s run, many of which were sung by the “original” characters.
Characters like Marley, Kitty and Ryder had already taken screen time from those like Quinn, Brittany and Puck. Now they were going to take their songs?
While that plan is still in place, “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy provided news that will soften the blow.
In a Tweet Tuesday, Murphy confirmed that all original characters–including those played by cast members no longer involved with the show–have been invited to appear in the 100th episode.
“ALL The Glee Originals received invites today to be in our 100th episode! More to follow,” wrote Murphy.
By specifying that all were invited to participate, Murphy is notably including Dianna Agron. Following Agron’s conspicuous absence from the tribute to deceased cast member Cory Monteith, speculation emerged about a potential rift between the actress and those behind the one-time FOX pop culture phenomenon.
