ABC’s critically-acclaimed “Last Resort” got off to a solid start in the overnight ratings Thursday, but as was evidenced with last year’s “Charlie’s Angels” premiere, there is no proof it delivered in the all-important adults 18-49 demographic.
Update: “Last Resort,” in fact, did not amaze in the demo, delivering a 2.2. Its viewership total, which clocked in at 9.1 million, reveals the expected old skew. By comparison, FOX’s “The X Factor” delivered a 3.2 rating and just 9.2 million viewers.
The show opened to a 6.5 metered market number, notes TV Media Insights, which is up slightly over the 6.1 “Angels” delivered last year. More positive news comes in the fact that its audience grew from start to finish.
On paper, however, the show looked like it could have a reasonably old skew, so it is uncertain the 6.5 will translate into a monster number in the key 18-49 segment. This will be a case of “wait and see” until the fast nationals come out at noon.
ABC followed up with “Grey’s Anatomy” (8.6) and “Scandal” (5.1).
