“The X Factor” Improves in Overnight Ratings, Down in Key Demo

Whereas “The X Factor” took significant flack for not delivering big ratings for its season premiere, which featured the debuts of judges Demi Lovato and Britney Spears, its week-to-week growth in the overnights has to be worthy of some praise.

According to TV Media Insights, Wednesday’s episode, the first to take on originals from ABC, delivered a 7.0 rating. That marks an improvement from last week’s 6.7.

Though the adults 18-49 performance was less spectacular–the show dipped to a 3.3 in that demo, although an upward adjustment in the finals is possible–it still tied “The Neighbors” for second place on the evening and was still in the same range as the previous four episodes this season.

“Modern Family” won the demographic race with a 5.5 adults 18-49 mark.
