Three episodes in, and MTV’s “The Inbetweeners” is stuck in dangerous ratings territory. It is hard to imagine the show being renewed at its current levels.
But this week did bring a glimmer of positive news–despite airing on the Labor Day holiday, the comedy adaptation avoided the massive nosedive it experienced from episode one to episode two, at least in terms of total viewership.
Episode three averaged 668,000 viewers, an abysmal total albeit one slightly larger than the prior week’s 648,000 average. Viewership among adults 18-49 declined from 373,000 to 327,000, although both fall into the same 0.3 rating, according to TravisYanan.
MTV’s adaptation of hit British comedy “The Inbetweeners” avoided the scathing reviews many might have expected, but it has failed to generate any traction with MTV’s audience. And though its lead-in is not a dominant force like “Jersey Shore,” “Ridiculousness” delivered more than twice what “Inbetweeners” delivered in the ratings Monday, so the show should be doing much better.
