FOX Sports Tuesday issued a press release touting UFC on FOX 4’s slight growth in comparison to UFC on FOX 3, an accomplishment given the hefty competitive challenge created by NBC’s 2012 Olympics broadcast.
The show, headlined by Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Brandon Vera, delivered a 1.4 household rating (the final 18-49 rating was not released Tuesday, but it doubtfully changed much from the 1.1 preliminary number). Though down from the 1.5 for UFC on FOX 3: Diaz vs. Miller, viewership was slightly up to 2.44 million viewers, compared with 2.42 for the May show.
The show also improved in the key 18-34 demographic, rising 19% to a 1.9 rating.
Top local markets for the event included Las Vegas (4.6 rating), Louisville (3.0 rating), New Orleans (2.8) and Tulsa (2.8). Notable is that the home market of Los Angeles was not one of the top performers.
According to FOX, the peak audience was achieved in the 10:00PM segment, which included the culmination of the Shogun vs. Vera bout. That portion delivered a 2.0 household rating and 3.3 million viewers.
