Tito Ortiz and Gabriel Gonzaga are among the UFC veterans set for UFC 121, various reports confirmed Thursday.
“Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Ortiz will do battle with Matt “The Hammer” Hamill at the event, which features Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez as the headliner. Ortiz is coming off a close loss to Forrest Griffin, while Hamill most recently defeated fellow “TUF” alum Keith Jardine.
Gonzaga, meanwhile, will fight against “Ultimate Fighter” season ten runner-up Brendan Schaub. Gonzaga has served as a gatekeeper in recent months, effectively launching both Shane Carwin and Junior dos Santos into contention. For Schaub, however, Gonzaga represents a vast step-up in competition from his most recent opponents Chase Gormley and Chris Tuchscherer.
UFC 121 takes place on October 23. Jake Shields vs. Martin Kampmann and Diego Sanchez vs. Paulo Thiago are also expected for the show.
