Hot 100: Maroon 5’s “Animals” Rockets into Top 40

When it comes to the current music scene, few songs are exploding with the ferocity of Maroon 5’s “Animals.” This week’s Billboard Hot 100 helps illustrate the song’s relentless growth.

“Animals,” the follow-up to Maroon 5’s top ten single “Maps,” surges eighteen spots to a new high of #33 on the weekly, all-encompassing Hot 100. In doing so, the song becomes the band’s seventh consecutive top 40 hit and fourteenth overall.

Its next objective is to follow in the footsteps of the last six Maroon 5 singles and reach the top ten. Given its surging airplay (it is already in the Top 30 at pop and hot adult contemporary radio) and immense sales (it is currently #9 on iTunes), such an achievement seems comfortably within the realm of possibility.

Further assistance will come from the music video, which has amassed more than 5 million YouTube views since debuting Monday.
