From a live+same-day standpoint, this week’s “American Horror Story: Roanoke” was down slightly from last week’s episode.
It was still by far the night’s #1 cable original in adults 18-49. It was the #2 cable broadcast in total viewership.
According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s “AHS” drew a 1.69 adults 18-49 rating and 3.08 million total viewers. Last week’s episode posted a 1.79 rating and 3.28 million in viewership.
The broadcast was by far the top cable original in the key demo. It, moreover, beat timeslot competition from NBC and CBS. Only ABC’s “Designated Survivor” (1.8) drew a bigger adults 18-49 rating in the 10PM timeslot.
Wednesday’s “Roanoke” also deserves credit for outdrawing the corresponding season five/”Hotel” episode in adults 18-49. After drawing a much stronger 2.15 rating in week two, “Hotel” slipped to a 1.67 in week three.
The third “Hotel” did, however, draw a slightly stronger live+same-day viewership total (3.20 million).
Not simply a strong live+same-day performer, “American Horror Story” typically receives big lifts from DVR. Those gains are reported in the live+3 and live+7 ratings, which FX publicly declares more important than live+same-day.
